About UsFirst time to a Baptist or evangelical church? Great! We'd love to have you as our guest. On any given Sunday we have guests with us, exploring this whole Christianity thing for themselves. The decision to trust and follow Jesus is a very personal decision, and we want people to feel the freedom to check things out. We invite you to join us, ask questions, and seek Truth.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

Sunday Bible Study is from 9:00 to 10:00 AM. We have various classes studying different topics. We can explain our current classes when you show up and point you to the one that most interests you.
From 10:00 to 10:30 we have a fellowship time. Grab a cookie and a drink and let's get to know to each other. Our Sunday worship service starts at 10:30 AM and generally ends by 12:00. The service mainly consists of singing, prayer, and a message from one of our pastors who explains a passage from the Bible. We have classes and worship for children, as well as a staffed nursery for little ones. Mountain View takes the safety of our children very seriously. All MVBC children and youth workers are screened prior to serving, and every worker must undergo regular criminal background checks and child abuse prevention training. We also have policies and procedures in place to create a safe environment. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask a children's worker at the check-in station in the foyer. Our songs celebrate what God has done for us - His unconditional love, His sacrifice to reconcile us to Himself, and His power and help in our time of need. We get a lot of joy from thinking about what God did for us and how much He loves us. Our teaching is centered around the Bible. In it God has given us help and wisdom for every area of our lives. It is food for our souls. The Bible is our final authority, not any human or institution. Our desire in worship is to put the focus on how great God is and not on ourselves. We realize that we are unworthy of God's love and forgiveness - yet delight to experience how He has lavished these upon us. Please feel free to dress as you feel comfortable. Some of our members like to dress more formally (dress shirt, dresses), but many prefer to dress casually (think jeans). No! No! No! We do not want our guests to give us any money. We collect an offering during our worship service. We do this not to show off (we don't pay attention to what others are giving) but because for Christians one of the ways we worship God is through giving. For our guests, we do not want you to give us anything. You will be invited to fill out a guest info card and drop it in the offering if you would like, but this is optional. We hope you will come check us out. We welcome your questions. We know that truth can withstand the most rigorous investigation, so we invite you to seek Truth, confident that those who do will find the Maker and Author of Life for themselves. |
