My husband Richard and I moved here from the Seattle area 14 plus years ago. We have four adult children and dozens of grandchildren spread throughout the mountain west.
My dad was a pastor who ministered in small churches or missions in various states as God called. We moved frequently to different callings and as a result I attended many elementary and high schools. After working several years as an administrative assistant, I returned to college and I am now a licensed social worker. My educational emphasis is in gerontology. My experience has included working with Alzheimer’s and dementia patients and with abused women, children and men at a local domestic violence shelter. My husband works for a company named Cerner Corporation. Cerner provides medical records systems in hospitals, large clinics, and medical offices. We moved to Utah when he was working on the medical records systems for the University of Utah
In November, 2017 I was diagnosed with a mass on my pancreas. As a result, I was admitted to the Huntsman Cancer Institute were part of my pancreas was removed. I thank God that the mass was proved to be benign. However, I suffered many complications after this surgery and spent months in rehabilitation centers. The prayers of Mountain View sustained me and Jesus healed me. As a result of these complications I needed to step away from the stress of social work. I now serve as part-time secretary to Mountain View Baptist Church. Through it all - I continue to run the race that God has set before me.
“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Hebrews 12: 1-2 (KJV)
