As we often do when we have Communion, we ask members of the congregation to share with us how God has impacted their lives. These stories are meant to encourage us and remind us that the God we serve is always caring for us. Today we hear from Maryfaith Snyder and Cathrine Yount. Video of Service ![]() Colossians makes it clear that Jesus is enough. The only way for sinful people to be made right with a holy God is through Christ. There is nothing we can do to earn a right standing with God. Christ did for us what we could never do for ourselves. Because of what God has done for us in Christ, this changes how we live our lives. When God saves us it changes where the focus of our lives is. It changes what we do. It changes what we do not do. We go out with our old sinful ways and in with the new ways of honoring the Lord with our lives. Colossians 3:1-17 Video of Service ![]() Jesus is enough. In Colossae false teachers were trying to convince the believers to add to Christ. They did not see Jesus as enough. Paul writes to assure them that Christ alone is enough for their salvation and their sanctification. Jesus is enough to make us right with God and to help us to live the way that God desires for us to live. Colossians 2:16-23 Video of Service ![]() How do we pay the debt we owe for our sin? Jesus and only Jesus is enough to save us. Nothing we can ever do will make us right with a holy God. Jesus did what we can never do for ourselves. He cancelled the debt we owe for our sin by dying on the cross in our place. We are given new life to live for the glory of God and the good of others because of what Jesus has done in his life, death, and resurrection. Colossians 2:6-15 Video of Service ![]() Who is in charge of your life? Colossians teaches clearly that Jesus is to be the Lord of our lives. Jesus is the Lord over creation. Everything that exists is from Him, Through Him, and to be glorifying Him. The Lord over creation stepped into creation and became the Lord over redemption. Jesus, God in the flesh, saves us and deserves to be the Lord over our lives. Colossians 1:15-20 Video of Service |
