Exodus 13
Today's service centers around the Lord's Supper, the Christian version of the Jewish Passover Meal. Passover gets its name from what the Lord did or more specifically did not do when He saw the blood of an unblemished Lamb applied to the door posts of Hebrew homes in Egypt. He 'passed over" the house and did not kill the firstborn child. Those in Egypt who did not apply the blood of an unblemished Lamb to their homes were visited by death. This final act of destruction upon the Egyptians signaled the release of God's people- their Exodus from Egypt. Just as the Israelites needed to memorialize their deliverance from physical bondage so we need to celebrate our deliverance from spiritual bondage. Hearing the stories- the Exodus stories- of fellow Christians is a huge reminder that God’s hand of deliverance is just as strong today as it was in the days of Moses. With that in mind, today's service includes the testimonies of three Mountain View members who have experienced God's hand of rescue. Exodus 13 Video of Message ![]() In the fullness of time, God led His people in Egypt to cry out to Him from their bondage. Because He had already planned a homeland for them in Canaan, He now set into place a series of events that would lead them back to the land of Promise, a land "flowing with milk and honey". Rather than appointing an angel for the task, God chose a man to lead His people. The man He chose was Moses and in Exodus 3, we read about a 3rd reality inspiring and informing our relationship with God. God invites us to join Him in His work. Exodus 3:1-10 Video of Message ![]() One of the ministries of Holy Spirit is helping us identify patterns of God’s activity so that we might discern between the eternal and temporal, between spiritual trash and spiritual treasure. Nearly 25 years ago, Holy Spirit helped a pastor from a small Baptist Church in Canada identify patterns of God’s work among His people throughout the centuries. As he studied Scripture, primarily the life of Moses in Exodus, he identified 7 patterns that inform and inspire the believer's walk with Jesus. As we conclude Exodus 2 today, we can identify the second of those 7 patterns: God pursues a love relationship with us that is both real and personal. Exodus 2:23-3:6 Video of Message Our mission team recently returned from Quebec. Hear what they learned through service to the Quebecois. Pastor Charles then reminds us to dream big, ask big, and trust God for the results. |
