![]() How would you fill in the blank? Christmas is ____________. Christmas is many things, but one aspect that you may have overlooked is this: Christmas is an invasion, an invasion by a glorious King landing in enemy-occupied territory to deliver a people hopelessly conquered by evil unable to save themselves. Discover how seeing Christmas as an invasion gives us hope, changes our perspective on suffering, delivers us from temptations, and rearranges our priorities. You may never see Christmas in quite the same way. The weeks leading up to Christmas are called Advent. Advent, from the Latin word, “adventus”, means "coming" or "arrival." At Christmas we celebrate Christ’s first coming into the world as a child and we say it loudly! But Christmas is also about expectancy - anticipation - and hope not yet realized. Christ came 2000 years ago but Christ is also coming again. Advent therefore is not just about looking back; it's also about looking ahead. In today's message from Romans 8, we consider how Paul depended upon Holy Spirit to sustain him through present difficulties by looking ahead to Christ' second Coming. The pain of life is real but so too is the hope of Christ's imminent return. Video of Message ![]() According to Hebrews 10 and Acts 1, to be a disciple of Jesus means being involved in each other's lives. It also means that our concern for one another will have an influence over those unlike us. When we "stir up" one another to love and good deeds, those actions have a rippling affect upon unreached cultures around us, both near and far. In today's message, Pastors Jeff and Darrell talk about their final trip to Lima, Peru and how the work of global missions really begins at home with the filling of Holy Spirit. Video of Message ![]() As Pastor Darrell was away touching base at our mission in Peru, we were blessed to hear from our new executive director of the Golden Spike Baptist Network (https://goldenspikenetwork.com), Adam Madden. Adam spoke on the importance of the Gospel, and how the bride price was paid by Christ on the cross. Video of Message |
